Hydrocodone Abuse – A Growing Problem in the US

There are different drugs that when used improperly could lead to addiction. A perfect example of these is opiates that are effective analgesic and pain relievers. Hydrocodone is an opiate that is the most abused prescription drug in the US. It is an effective anti-cough agent and is also used in controlling moderate pain. Hydrocodone Abuse is now a growing problem in the United States because of the continuous growth in the number of people addicted to it.

This drug is a sedative that promotes calmness and euphoria like morphine and heroin. When abused, Hydrocodone is taken orally, dissolved in water and injected or crushed then snorted. Unfortunately, these drugs can be purchased online that allows abusers to buy this drug freely through the internet. This is the reason why controlling abuse of this drug is hard to achieve. Recovery from addiction of Hydrocodone usually requires help from rehabilitation or recovery centers.
